From a very young age, Mickey Marino dedicated his life to doing all he could to help those around him. When my uncle passed away on July 6, 1988, my family thought the best way to memorialize him would be to carry on his love for helping others. As a result, the Mickey Marino Memorial Scholarship fund was born.

Our family could have never imagined that the scholarship would have lasted 32 years and helped 63 students including the class of 2020.

Originally, the idea was to give a $1,000 scholarship to one student for their first year of college. Over time it has grown to four students receiving $2,500 each. We are grateful for the support of the community and our board of trustees for overseeing this fund.

The family of Mickey Marino, a 1981 graduate of Ripley High School, would like to congratulate this year’s scholarship winners:

• Reagan Carpenter

• Midejah Randolph

• Dewayne Rotenberry

• Katlyn Sarver

Mickey would be proud of your strength, perseverance in uncertain times, and dedication to your education.

Congratulations to the Ripley High School Class of 2020!

Sincerely,

Jeana Mahan
