The filling period for candidates for the upcoming primary election will be from Jan. 13 through Jan. 25.

Several county offices will be on the May 12 ballot, according to County Clerk Cheryl Bright.

“We have quite a few offices up for election,” Bright said. “Several people have already filed pre-candidacy forms which means they have an interest in running, but until they formally file in January, they will not be on the primary ballot.”

The County Clerk’s office will be open during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but will also be open on the last day for filing from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“We are mandated to be open until noon on the last day,” Bright said. “That happens to be on Saturday, Jan. 25 this year.”

Offices on the primary ballot include:

• Sheriff – 4 year term – currently held by Tony Boggs who is not eligible for re-election
