Barry Thompson, 56, of 66 Totem Lane, Ravenswood, was arrested on Wednesday evening for kidnapping to inflict injury.

In the complaint filed with the Jackson County Courthouse, Thompson met with the victim in Ripley in order to return some personal items.

As the victim reached for the items, Thompson grabbed her by the arms and pulled her into the vehicle and proceeded to drive north on Parkersburg Road, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Thompson allegedly told the victim that he intended to kill her and then he produced a handgun.

According to the complaint, while traveling toward Medina Road, the victim was able to jump from the vehicle and run to a nearby home to call for help.

Deputy S.C. Fisher was dispatched to the location of the victim where he met with her and took her statement.

With the help of the Ravenswood and Ripley Police Departments and Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Thompson was later apprehended in Silverton.

“It was great work by the JCBI and all the supporting agencies,” Chief Deputy Ross Mellinger of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department said.
