Two Ohio residents were arrested in Ripley after police officers responded to a report of two people passed out in a Geo Tracker in the Walmart parking lot.
Matthew Allen Athey, 41, 35700 SR 143, Pomeroy, and Barbara Anne Waswick of 30244 Dyesville Road, Pomeroy, were charged with one count each of possession with intent to deliver.
At 3:15 p.m., Lt. Brian Anderson and Patrolman Anthony Gaskins responded to a report of two individuals passed out in a Geo Tracker in the Walmart parking lot. Deputy Lucas Casto of the Jackson County Sheriff Department arrived on the scene and spoke to the driver, Athey.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found 3.46 grams of suspected methamphetamine in a binoculars case, as well as 46.5 grams in Waswick’s coat, according to a criminal complaint filed in Jackson County Magistrate Court.
Officers also found inside the vehicle approximately 20 small baggies, a set of digital scales, three loaded syringes, and 30 syringes, according to the complaint.
