Two juveniles were arrested after shots were fired during the weekend at the Ravenswood shopping plaza.

The incident occurred sometime around 11 p.m., according to information provided by the Ravenswood Police Department.

According to a statement issued by the police department, two youths from Kanawha County were taken into custody. The shots fired struck a vehicle, and did not result in any injuries.

The incident is still under investigation. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the call.

“The cooperation among agencies allowed for the quick resolution of this case,” Ravenswood police chief Lance Morrison said in statement released by the department.

Mayor Josh Miller said he believed law enforcement agencies did an excellent job responding to the incident.

“Although we rarely see incidents like this happen in Ravenswood and Jackson County, our officers are trained well and realize this can happen anywhere. I’m very proud of how quickly our law enforcement tracked down the suspects and took them into custody,” he said.

Miller said the incident was not random.

“Just to be clear, this was not a random incident. This was an argument that escalated from a verbal confrontation to a shot being fired. We’re extremely thankful no one was injured during this incident,” Miller said.
