HOPEWELL — Keep Hopewell Beautiful recently announced the launch of the Beautiful Yard Award Program for homes and businesses. This program is just one of many Keep Hopewell Beautiful (KHB) sponsors in the city to promote beautification and environmental stewardship.

KHB will recognize one home and business monthly starting with Ward 1 in May. A home and a business will be chosen in each ward.

“The purpose of this program is to encourage homeowners to take extra care to make their yards and storefronts looking nice,” said Brian Silver, chairman of Keep Hopewell Beautiful.”

In a couple of weeks, KHB will begin looking for the next home and business to award, this time in Ward 2 for the month of June.

The Ward 1 home winner is Frances Halupka on Appomattox Street. She thanks her friends Doug and Tam Helsel, who assist her in keeping her yard looking nice.

The Ward 1 business winner is McDaniel Financial Group on North 6th Street. Look for the Keep Hopewell Beautiful recognition signs in front of this home and business during the month of May.

Keep Hopewell Beautiful also sponsors the Adopt a Street, Adopt a Neighbor, City Wide and Community Clean Ups, Outreach and Recycling in Our Schools.

KHB meets the second Wednesday of each month in the second floor conference room of the City Municipal Building, located at 300 N. Main St. at 7 p.m. If you are interested in serving on the KHB committee, attend one of the meetings to find out more about Keep Hopewell Beautiful.
