The Ravenswood Police Department is hiring, Chief Lance Morrison said.

Morrison said the department offers various specialties, including K9, detective, firearms, self defense, instructor development, FBI training, firearms instructor, evidence technician, sex-crimes investigator, blue/white collar crimes investigation , and highway drug interdiction.

The police department has received the following recognitions: Congressional Recognition for results in drug work, three state awards for drug interdiction success, lifesaver awards, safest community awards, and multiple highway safety enforcement awards.

Applicants for the position must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. They must be a United States citizen and possess a valid driver’s license.

Individuals interested in the position must complete an application, which is available at 212 Walnut Street. In addition, applicants must pass a medical exam, an interview board, a drug screen, a typing test, a written examination, and a physical agility test for non-certified officers.
