JACKSON COUNTY - The 2016 JCCF, Inc. Annual Benefit Dinner was a huge success. Leigh Anne Tuohy was a wonderful motivational speaker who inspired the audience to “Turn Around” and take action.
The focus charity was our Snak Pak Program run by Parchment Valley Baptist Church (PVBC). From the dinner ticket sales and silent auction proceeds, JCCF, Inc. presented the PVBC Snak Pak Program with a check to start a new fund with the foundation.
PVBC started the program in January of 2012. In this first Spring semester they served three schools starting out with Evans Elementary, Cottageville Elementary and Ripley Elementary, respectively. In this very first semester they served 20 children with a total of 154 packs delivered. As the poverty situation in our county increased over the years, so did the need for child hunger assistance.
In the 2015-2016 school year, the program disbursed 4,638 packs. The PVBC incurred an expense of over $35,000 to sustain the Snak Pak program.
Christy Crowell, Executive Director commented “With the new fund created at JCCF, Inc., the Parchment Valley Baptist Church Snak Pak Program will be able to budget the income of the annual earnings from the fund. It is our goal and mission to sustain this wonderful program by managing this fund so that the finances are FOR GOOD and FOREVER.”
Jennifer Hutton, Chair of the PVBC Snak Pak Program commented “I just wanted to say thank you for this opportunity. We feel very honored to have been the featured charity this past year. I know the church was very excited when they found out that we were able to be the focus and start a fund with JCCF, Inc.”
For more information about the Parchment Valley Baptist Church Snak Pak Program, please call Jennifer Hutton at 304-372-8632. Good nutrition, particularly in children, is important for establishing a good foundation that has implications for a child’s future physical and mental health, academic achievement, and economic productivity.
Unfortunately, food insecurity is an obstacle that threatens that critical foundation. Child hunger exists in Jackson County. This time of year, parents or guardians are making decisions whether to heat their homes or feed their children. Please call Jennifer or Christy today to see how you can help.
Any size donation to the Parchment Valley Baptist Church Snak Pak Program Fund held at JCCF, Inc. is greatly appreciated and is recognized as a tax deductible. Donations can be sent to our office at 108 North Church Street, Ripley, WV 25271
