RAVENSWOOD – Ravenswood’s Red Devilettes (aka Braham’s Flying Circus) rolled past the Ripley lady Vikings in straight sets, 25-12, 25-18. 25-12, Tuesday night at the RvHS Physical Education Building in the annual cross county “Battle for The Net,” the symbol of Jackson County volleyball supremacy.
For the Devilettes, Skyler Mace (23 points) and Lauren Hoff I(22 points) led the way for the 29-17 Devilettes. Katie Mellinger added seven points; Erica Green, six; Bayli Manns and Molly McCutcheon, five each; Ariana Kennedy, four; and Kendall Bowen, one.
McCutcheon was the top server at 20/20 (one ace). Kennedy served four aces and Hoff, two. Kennedy was the top passer at 30/31. Manns was 80/80 in sets. Hoff led the spikers at 31/31 (16 kills). Mace had 18 kills; Mellinger, five; and Green, three. Mace had 10 blocks; Hoff nine; and Manns three.
Destinee Baldwin paced the Lady Vikings with 11 points.
In the jayvee preliminary. Ripley swept 25-16. 25-22.
Karlie Hesson paced the Lady Vikings with 10 points.
For Ravenswood, Macey Manns scored nine points; Hannah Heatherington, eight; Kendra Casto, seven; Whitlney Harmon, three; an Tana Phillips, one. The Devilette jayvees closed out a 5-7 season.’
Braham’s Flying Circus travels to R.C. Byrd Saturday for a tri-match with Fairmont Senior at high noon. Sectional tournament play begins Monday. Ravenswood will play in the sectional semifinal Tuesday night at Roane County. Tournament play is single elimination this year. The winner of Tuesday night’s semi is guaranteed a birth in the state-qualifying regional. The loser is done for the year.
