COTTAGEVILLE - Area businessmen, businesswomen, stockmen, politicians groups and individuals turned out in force Friday to make the 2015 Jackson County Junior Fair’s Market Livestock Sale—the 45th annual sale—another all-time record, blowing past last year’s record $505,887.65 sale total to a new all-time high total of $558,711.20. Sale officials say there will be some sale price adjustments forthcoming which will push the all-time record total to over $560,000 when all is said and done.
An all-time record bid of $12.50 per pound by Dr. Todd Shockey, DVM and a total sale price of $15,625 for Emma Rae Hartley’s 1,250-pound Grand Champion Market Steer set the tone for the new record sale total.
Collision Specialists purchased Desi Rose’s 1,313-pound 2015 Reserve Champion Market Steer for $9.25 per pound and a total sale price of $12,145.25.
The total market steer sale Friday was $152,593.50 with an average sale price of $4.28 per pound.
The total market hog sale Friday was $247,630.25 (to be adjusted up) with an average of $5.13 paid per pound.
Terra Services and Frugal Frog combined to purchase Delaney Parsons’s 265-pound 2015 Grand Champion Market Hog for $24.00 per pound and a total of $6,360.00.
Dr. Todd Shockey, DVM purchased Autumn Hartley’s 275-pound 2015 Reserve Champion Market Hog for $20.50 per pound and a total sale price of $5,637.50.
The total replacement heifer sale Friday was $66,099.70 with an average of $5.18 paid per pound.
United Producers Livestock and Feed Stop of Gallipolis, OH combined to purchase Libby Hall’s 531-pound 2015 Grand Champion Replacement Heifer for 12.00 per pound and a total of $6,372.
