RIPLEY - Take me home, Country Rhodes. Country Rhodes Bed & Breakfast is up and running in Ripley giving guest the feel of coming home with charm, comfort and personal service in a historic building overlooking the growing town of Ripley.

The building was built in 1900 as a private residence for local resident and retailer O.J Morrison. Over the years, the structure underwent many changes becoming a boarding house, medical clinic (Kessel Clinic) and funeral home (Parsons-Waybright) for decades.

In 2013, Gordon L. and Maryann Rhodes purchased it to craft their dream of a multi-faceted business venture combined with a personal residence.

‘We fell in love with the architecture and the history of the building,” said Maryann Rhodes. “l felt it would make a perfect bed and breakfast. We had no background in food service, retail or hospitality, but decided to take a chance. “The home holds so much history, we were afraid it would be gutted or torn down and the history would be lost.  Now we have the opportunity to share the history of the home as well as the history of the former occupants.”

Fast forward three years and Country Rhodes houses the bed and breakfast, as well as a coffee shop, gift shop and florist shop—all under one roof.

“The views are spectacular from our five well-appointed suites (Kessel, Morrison, Parsons, Waybright and Rhodes),” added Rhodes. “The rooms have a homey feel, relaxing décor, with a fully equipped private bath, comfortable queen-size bed and plenty of storage space—all within walking distance of Ripley shops. Rooms have no televisions or phones, giving guests a chance to relax and unwind. There are porch rockers, and a cozy fireplace for winter. There is a large common area with television, games and the chance to mingle with other guests. Free wi-fi is also available. Guests must be 12 and older.”

Country Rhodes has an in-house café and bakery, and breakfast is included in the price of a stay. Breakfast service can accommodate special dietary requirements.

The bakery is known for its homemade pies and cakes for any occasion. The gift shop is stocked with something for everyone. Banquet accommodations are also available for up to 60 guests as well as catering which is also offered off-site at the customer’s venue within Jackson County.

Country Rhodes provides personal service unequaled in a chain hotel, while also respecting guests’ privacy, and caters special packages at request.
