Richard “Dick” Paul Asher, 91, of Ravenswood, WV, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2015, in Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV, following an extended illness.
He was born on October 26, 1923, in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Edward Lee and Precious Daisy Beaver Asher.
He was a charter member of Second Baptist Church in Ravenswood. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially loved hunting and fishing.
He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood as a pipe fitter. He loved his family and provided well for them.
He is survived by his son, Cliff Asher, Ravenswood, WV; daughters, Patricia Asher Cunningham, Chatham, IL; and Janet Linger, Weston, WV; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Asher, Brittny and Jarod Cornett, Drew Fields and Devon Plumley; 8 great grandchildren, Izzabella, Maddie, Lydia, Morgan, Logan, Brady, and Paul; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Emma Elaine Asher; four brothers; and 2 sisters.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 12:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor S. R. Parsons, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg, WV.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, time of service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research.
