RAVENSWOOD – Continued inclement weather as much as opponents is challenging Coach Cara Williams’ Devilettes in their quest for a LKC Night of Champions berth and finishing the regular season with momentum.
Ravenswood is contending for LKC North runner-up honors and a berth in the third-place NOC game. The chief challenger for that berth is Tyler Consolidated. The Devilettes (9-4, 5-3 LKC North) were scheduled to host Tyler Consolidated (9-6, 5-2 LKC North) Monday night in the first of two showdown games, but that game was buried by Sunday night/Monday morning’s inches of ice and snow that closed schools and left area roads treacherous.
Ravenswood’s showdown schedule has now been flipped around and compressed even more (four critical games in seven days).

The revamped schedule will see the Devilettes travel to Kidwell tonight (Thursday) for the first crucial meeting with Tyler Consolidated in a 6 p.m./7:30 p.m. jayvee/varsity double dribbler.

The Devilettes will have their hands full with the Silver Knights of Coach Matt Kinnard and vice versa. The Silver Knights are led by seniors Sophie Kinnard and Sydney Reed. Kinnard set a new Tyler school scoring record (1,156 career points) with 27 in a 80-69 win over Doddridge County last Friday. Reed added 22 points. Tyler’s two LKC North losses came to unbeaten St. Marys.

In addition to the two big games versus the Devilettes, the Silver Knights have LKC North games at Williamstown (Feb. 7) and home to Ritchie County (Feb. 8).

Following tonight’s battle at Kidwell, the Devilettes will face a varsity-only rematch at Parkersburg Catholic Saturday night at 7 p.m. Ravenswood edged PC at The Pit in overtime, 59 -57, earlier.

Then the Devilettes will host Doddridge County Feb. 11 at 6 p.m./7:30 p.m. at the RvHS Physical Education Building and the rematch with Tyler Consolidated on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m./7:30 p.m.

Non-LKC NOC placement games will be played on Feb. 13 with locations to be determined.
Ravenswood hosts regional-rival Fairmont Senior on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m./7:30 p.m.
The LKC NOC is set for Feb. 15 at Doddridge County High School.

The Devilettes will then close out their regular season with games at Roane County (Feb. 17), at Ripley (Feb. 18) and at Webster County (Feb. 22 at 4 p.m./6 p.m.).
