Donald R. Creel, 74, of Cottageville, WV, passed away February 4, 2014, at his home.
He was born December 7, 1939, in Dunbar, WV, a son of the late Charles Delford and Lois Esther (Anderson) Creel.  His grandson and namesake, Dustin Ray Klaseen, also preceded him in death.

He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean Demilitarized Zone, and was recalled to active duty during the Cuban missile crisis. He was retired from Pechiney Rolled Products, Ravenswood, and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local #5668. He was very involved with youth group activities in the community.
Don was very politically active; he was a longstanding member of the Jackson County Democratic Executive Committee, the Committee on Political Education with the AFL-CIO, and was a leader of the Rapid Response Team for the International USWA Union.
  

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyce Ann (Hunt) Creel; son and his wife, Charles and Kelli Creel of Chancellor, AL; daughters, Crystal Elaine Carte and her husband Lowell David, Jr., of Parkersburg, Nora Lynn Creel Kyer of Cottageville, and Kimberly Dawn Creel of St. Albans; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth and his wife Karen Creel of Sherman, Cecil Creel of Ravenswood, and James Creel of Bend, OR, and his sisters, Barbara Harmon of Ravenswood, and Ernestine “Pat” Sharp of Seffner, FL.
Service will be 7 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to: Holzer Cancer Care Center, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, OH 45631.
