Midday snow showers Thursday did not stop crowds of people from flocking to Harvard Square looking to get a glimpse of this year’s Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year – Anne Hathaway.

“It’s the only way to travel,” said the movie star of “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Brokeback Mountain” fame, as she traveled down Massachusetts Avenue in a red Bentley, flanked by Harvard men dressed in drag while blowing kisses to her bundled-up fans.

Hasty Pudding’s Man and Woman of the Year awards are annually presented by the Hasty Pudding Theatricals to performers who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment,” according to the group’s Web site.

This year’s Hasty Pudding Man of the Year award will go to Justin Timberlake and will take place on Feb. 5.

The Woman of the Year award was established in 1951 and has been granted to entertainers like Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, including last year’s winner, Renée Zellweger.

At the age of 27, Hathway has already received nominations for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for the movie “Rachel Getting Married.” She has also starred in “The Princess Diaries,” “Ella Enchanted,” “Get Smart,” “Becoming Jane,” and will next star in the upcoming movies “Valentines Day” and “Alice in Wonderland” where she plays the White Queen.

After the parade, Hathaway was roasted by the university’s theatrical troupe and presented with the Pudding Pot award at the New College Theater on Holyoke Street.
