It was a tale of two huge quarters Wednesday night as unbeaten Parkersburg Catholic rallied for a 21-3 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes to hand the host Ravenswood Red Devilettes a bitter 71-58 loss.

It was a tale of two huge quarters Wednesday night as unbeaten Parkersburg Catholic rallied for a 21-3 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes to hand the host Ravenswood Red Devilettes a bitter 71-58 loss.

 Coach Cara Williams’s Devilettes had put together their own rally in the second quarter, erasing a 14-8 Crusaderette advantage ofter one quarter with a 25-12 outburst for a 33-26 lead at the half.

 The third quarter saw offensive fireworks from both squads as the Crusaderettes eked out a 24-22  scoring nudge to trail 55-50 headed into the decisive fourth quarter.

 But Ravenswood unraveled under pressure in the final eight, committing a rash of turnovers that allowed PC to seize momentum and race to a 21-3 scoring barrage to win going away. 

 Olivia Ullman led Parkersburg Catholic with 25 points including three three-point goals. Aaliyah Brunny (trey) and Madeline Huffman (trey) added 17 points each.

 For the Devilett, now 6-7, senior point guard Kayla Liptrap  (trey) led the way with 16 points. Ali Westenhaver (seven rebounds) added 12; Annie Hunt (four assists, six rebounds), 10; Maddie Schiefer (two treys), eight; Skylar Mace, seven; Hunter Gorrell (trey), three; and Shelby Howard, two.

 Ravenswood hosts a rematch with St. Marys Tuesday night; hosts Ripley Thursday night (7 p.m.); and hosts Wayne January 27 at 1 p.m.
