CHARLESTON – Three core producers of head coach Ken Swisher’s Ripley Viking softball team were recognized with Class AAA All-State selections by the West Virginia Sportswriter’s Association for their contributions during the 2017 season.

Junior infielder Paige Swisher and sophomore infielder Cassidy Young were All-State Special Honorable Mention picks, while sophomore utility player Jaelyn Hunt earned an Honorable Mention selection.

Swisher led Ripley at the dish in 2017, finishing the year with a .485 batting average, .680 slugging percentage, 50 hits, nine RBI and 41 runs scored.

Young was Ripley’s main masher in 2017, finishing with a team high 43 RBI and eight home runs. She maintained a .480 batting average and a .890 slugging percentage to go along with 48 hits.

Hunt averaged .357 in 2017, adding a .643 slugging percentage with 35 hits, 36 RBI, six home runs and 20 runs scored in just her second varsity season.
