CHARLESTON – Four members of head coach Shane Casto’s Ripley Viking baseball team earned the ultimate honor in Class AAA–being named to the Class AAA All-State baseball team.  Senior Anthony Jarvis led the way, named to the All-State First team.  Senior Lane Casto was next, earning Second Team All-State honors. Senior Remy Boyce was an All-State Special Honorable Mention pick, while junior J.T. Kemp earned an Honorable Mention selection.

Jarvis, who will play next spring at Glenville State, finished the season with a team-leading .448 batting average, .731 slugging percentage and a 1.333 OPS. He also collected 30 hits, three home runs and 21 RBI.

Casto, who will play next season at Alderson-Broaddus, climbed his way to the top of the Ripley pitching staff in 2017.  He sported an 8-4 record, a 2.17 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP on the mound, while also led the Vikings in RBI with 35.  He finished the season with a .330 batting average and a .929 OPS.

Boyce, who will play at Salem International next spring, was the spark plug at the top of the Viking lineup in 2017, leading the team in hits (41), runs scored (31). He was also second on the team with a .376 batting average and a .902 OPS.

Kemp had a fantastic first season in blue and white, finishing the year with a .354 batting average, a .900 OPS, 96 hits, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored.
