RIPLEY –  Four members of head coach Ken Swisher’s Ripley Viking softball team earned selections to the All-Mountain State Athletic Conference team for their performances during the 2017 season. 

The picks were led by a pair of underclassmen, as sophomore Cassidy Young and junior Paige Swisher both earned First Team honors at infield. 

Swisher was the Vikings’ leading hitter in 2017, finishing the year with a .485 batting average, .680 slugging percentage, 50 hits, nine RBI and 41 runs scored. 

Young was the Vikings’ main power source in 2017, finishing with a team high 43 RBI and eight home runs.  She maintained a .480 batting average and a .890 slugging percentage to go along with 48 hits.

Sophomore Jaelyn Hunt earned a Second Team All-MSAC selection as an outfielder.  Hunt batted .357 in 2017, adding a .643 slugging percentage with 35 hits, 36 RBI, six home runs and 20 runs scored.

Finally, senior Haley Carte was an All-MSAC Honorable Mention selection.  Carte’s final season in blue and white was characteristically solid from the University of Charleston softball commit.  

She finished the year with a .333 batting average, .429 slugging percentage, 28 hits, 24 RBI and a home run.
