Patty Virginia Reed, 59, of Ravenswood, departed this life June 26, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, following an extended battle with ovarian cancer.          

She was born October 25, 1949, in Ravenswood, a daughter of Lucille Vaun (Wilson) Mahan of Ripley and the late Russell Daniel Mahan.

She was a member of the Cross Roads Community Church, Sissonville.  She enjoyed collecting glass shoes and crosses as well as lawn and gardening.

In addition to her mother, other survivors include her husband, Everett Paul Reed of Ravenswood; son Everett P. Reed, Jr. of Ravenswood; daughter Mary Reed of Ravenswood; brothers Daniel Mahan of Lubeck, Dave and his wife Brenda Mahan, William and his wife Joyce Mahan all of Ravenswood, Robert Mahan of Parkersburg, Scott Mahan of Morgantown; sisters Mary and her husband Jerry Hall, Joan Jones, and Sharon Williams, all of Ravenswood, Rita and her husband Follie Rhodes of Lubeck; several nieces and nephews including special nieces Bobbie Sowards and Brittany Jones; sister-in-law Pat Reed and a special friend Melissa Freeman.

She was also preceded in death by brothers Raymond Allen Mahan and Timothy Russell “Red” Mahan, an infant sister, and three infant brothers.

Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Jerry Bonnett and the Rev. Rob Ely officiating. 

Burial followed in the Ravenswood Cemetery.

Visitation was prior to service from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
