Edward Eugene Stewart, 63, of Ripley passed away Friday, July 3, 2009, at his home following a long illness.

He was born September 8, 1945, at Kanawha County, a son of the late Arnett “Doc” and Maggie Lanham Stewart.  He was member of the last graduating class of Elkview High School in 1963.  He was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was former owner and operator of Stewart Shoe and Harness.  He was an Ordained Deacon of American Baptist Faith and a member and Deacon of Good Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marsha Jane Epling Stewart, and brothers and sisters Charles W. Stewart, Robert A. Stewart, James. M. Stewart, Helen Louise Cuervo, Kelly W. Stewart and Joel R. Stewart.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Adkins Stewart; daughters Celena S. King and her husband Richard B. King and Stacy Lynn Miller and her husband Bobby Eugene Miller; stepdaughter Jennifer Denise Redman; grandchildren Patrick Scott King, Alison Paige King, Erika Jane Miller and Holly Jo Miller.

Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Reggie Stewart officiating.  Burial was at Good Hope Cemetery, Reedy.
