Rev. Charles M. Boyce 79, of Norfolk, VA and formerly of Brookfield, OH, died on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.
Mr. Boyce was born July 26, 1929, in Parkersburg, a son of Marsellus and Vivian (Meredith) Boyce. He married the former Phyllis Sprouse on November 27, 2004, and has since resided in Norfolk, VA.
Rev. Boyce had served his country in the United States Air Force, and had went on to work for the Ohio Chair Company in Austintown, OH, for several years. Later in life, he pastored and ministered at several area churches until his moving to Virginia where he continued to serve in various ministries at True Vine Baptist Church.
Charles is survived by his wife Phyllis of Norfolk; son Michael Boyce and his wife Diane of Hubbard, OH; daughter Charlene Henry and her husband Randy of Girard, OH; brother Edwin Boyce of Hubbard, OH; sisters Mary Lou Pursley of Sandyville, Gwendolyn Martin and her husband Lou, Patricia Carney and her husband Tom, and Linda Murray and her husband Larry all of Elizabeth; grandchildren Tammy Duty, Dale Boyce, Jon Boyce, and Holly Henry; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Chilcie L. Pursley, whom he married December 28, 1950, and who died on November 11, 2002; brothers Marsellus Boyce, Jr., and Lewis Boyce; sisters Eileen Boyce and Donna Murray.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 24, at Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, Brookfield, OH, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, June 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in Dugan Cemetery in Fowler, OH.
