RIPLEY – Kathaleen Eleanor Mann, 98, of Melbourne, Fl, passed away June 26, 2010. She was born in Jackson County on June 18, 1912.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn R. Mann; parents Charles C. Cunningham and Marguerite H. Sayre Cunningham, and four brothers and two sisters.
Kathaleen is survived by her four children Allen Mann of Post Falls, ID, Glenn R. Mann Jr. and wife Sharon of Statts Mill, Margaret Mann of Melbourne, FL, and Mike Mann of Alburquerque, NM. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great- great grandchildren.
Kathaleen attended Salem College and Morris Harvey College. She served as a teacher in Jackson County for 32 years. She taught at several one-room schools in the western part of Jackson County and several years at Ripley Elementary School. Toward the end of her career, she worked in Head Start and other remedial reading programs in various county schools.
At her request, her body was cremated. A memorial service celebrating Kathleen’s life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your choice of a cancer prevention program.
