James L. “Jim” Waybright, 66, of Sandyville went to live with the Lord Saturday, September 27, 2008.

He was born November 17, 1941, in St. Albans to the late Charles and Cornia Vandergrift Waybright. 

He was a 1959 Ripley High School graduate and served three years in the Army.  He was the local business owner of Waybright’s Pipe & Supply, Ohio Valley Truss, and The Farm Shoppe.  He was elected to the Jackson County Commission where he proudly served 12 years, presiding for three of those years as President of the Commission.  He served as Vice President and President of the WVCCA.  In addition to his work, he served on many governing boards including: RSVP Board, Polymer Alliance Executive Board, LKVRCD Board, WVACO Board, WVCCA Board, Health Board, State of WV Transit Board and was a member of Shofar Broadcasing.  He served 18 years on the Silverton Volunteer Fire Department, 15 years on the Board of Directors of the SVFD, was a member of the American Legion, a member of the VFW of Sandyville and a 33-year member of the Ripley Baptist Temple.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Edgar Waybright, Jr., and his sister, JoAnn Waybright.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Doris Jean Waybright; daughters Melissa Suzanne Waybright of Sandyville, Jill Elaine Bowles of Ravenswood, and Melinda Dawn Yates (Gregory II) of Ripley; grandchildren Ryan Adam Bowles, Gregory Lewis Yates, III, Courtney Nicole Bowles, Katlyn Desiree Yates, and Blake Chandler Yates; sisters Bernadine Morris of Ripley and Ida Mitchell of Ripley.

Jim was a very giving individual, always contributing to his family, friends and community.  His final contribution was his gift as a proud organ donor. 

Friends called from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008, at Ripley Baptist Temple.  Service will be Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Ripley Baptist Temple with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating; viewing is one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow in Fairplain Cemetery.  Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ripley Baptist Temple Building Fund or to Jackson County Library.
