GILBERT—Funeral services for Robert Eugene Clay, 65, of Gilbert, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be his nephew, Rev. Scott Allen Crede. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 6 -7:30 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Clay passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010. Born in Gay, W. Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Allen Clay and Geneva Johns Clay. Major Clay retired from the United States Air Force having served in Vietnam. He had been an area resident since 1984 formerly of Sumter. He was a member of Cayce Masonic Lodge #384, Scottish Rites in Omaha, Nebraska and Al Asha Shrine Temple in Anchorage, Alaska.
Surviving are his daughter, Ashley Brooke Clay of Sumter;son, Robert Allen Clay II of Sumter; sister, Carolyn Sue Clay Crede (Oscar) of Myrtle Beach along with many nieces and nephews and friends who loved.
