Phyllis Jean Rhodes, 71, of Ripley went to be with the Lord June 23, 2009, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Akron, OH, and was a daughter of the late Charles Milford and Nancy Parsons Parrish.
She was a homemaker, a member of Ripley Baptist Temple where she volunteered with the ladies group, and a member of Jackson County Senior Citizens, Ripley.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Carroll Rhodes; sister Judy of Geneva, OH; nephews Carl Robinson of Nevada and Kevin Robinson of Akron; great-nieces and -nephews Amber, Blaise and Cain; brothers and sisters-in-law Jack and Sue Rhodes of Kenna, Denzil and Jean Rhodes of Ravenswood, Gary and Sandra Rhodes of Bloomdale, OH, Ralph and Melissa Rhodes of Newcomerstown, OH, Karen and Troy King of Evans, and David Snyder of South Charleston; and many nephews, nieces, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Ripley Baptist Temple with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating.
Burial followed in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Friends called from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Ripley Baptist Temple, 320 Charleston Drive, Ripley, WV 25271.
