II Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Dorsel “Pete” Lynn Fisher, 76 of Given passed away surrounded by his family on November 23, 2018.

Dorsel was born June 11, 1942 in Sissonville, a son of the late Howard and Dessie Witt Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his “Mom”, Myrtle Skeen Fisher whom helped raise him after his mother passed away when he was only six years old. His family moved to Jackson County in 1956 and he graduated in 1960 from Ripley High School where he played football for the Vikings. He retired from Transportation with the Jackson County Board of Education but he was always a Farmer at heart. Dorsel was a good Steward and God blessed him with Cattle and Tractors to work the land he loved. He liked to go to tractor sales and to the Amish Country with his lifelong friend Larry Welling and his wife Connie. God also blessed him with a loving wife, Wilma, who was his helpmate and worked by his side on their farm. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent at his church, The Parchment Valley United Methodist Church. He always loved helping others and was a member of the Community Fitness Center and volunteered at the“Quarter Store.” Dorsel was a member of CURVES and worked at the Fairplain Tractor Sales. He loved to talk to neighbors and when he and Wilma would go for a “short” drive, it would turn into a four hour adventure as Dorsel would have to talk to every neighbor he could.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Wilma Harper Fisher; daughter Lisa Lynn Medford; brothers Gene (Helen) Fisher, Dean (Joyce) Fisher; sisters Delores Kersey, Janice (Jerry) Southall and Connie Hayes; special niece, Sue Ramsey and also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Delos Fisher and two infant sisters.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Lloyd Keith officiating. Burial will be in the Given Cemetery, Given, WV. Friends may call on the family from 11 am until the time of service on Monday.
