Helen Garnet Trout, 103 of Ripley, formerly of South Charleston, passed away July 14, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Morad. Helen’s grandson, Ali Forrest Morad 51 passed away on May 24, 2017.
Helen was born November 7, 1914 in Gallipolis, OH a daughter of the late Charles and Mamie Irion Harrington. She worked in Business Administration for the WV State Tax Department. She was very active in the St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was a charter member of the Palms Sunday School Class was a church Organist, taught Sunday School and was a former president of the United Methodist Women. She was member of the South Charleston Eastern Star, White Shrine and Oriental Shrine. Helen was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Her love was not only for people, she had a love of animals and enjoyed watching birds and deer.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Morad and her husband, Dr. Ali Morad; grandchildren, Kobie Morad Rasmussen and Dr. Shirin Morad; great grandchildren Faith Rasmussen, Kylie Morad and Eli Morad along with several nieces and nephews . In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest E. Trout, grandson Ali F. Morad and brothers Fred and Curtis Harrington.
Ali was born on July 25, 1965, the son of Dr. Ali and Carolyn Morad. He was a beloved member of the Ripley High School Class of 1983. He will always be remembered for his wisdom, caring kindness and humor. Following high school, he graduated from Dennison University where he was a member of Delta Tau Chi and then obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Emory University. In his law practice, Ali was willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed charity work and was always ready to lend a helping hand, but did not like to be given credit and praise for his charity.
Ali is survived by his children, Kylie and Eli Morad; his parents, Dr. Ali and Carolyn Morad; sisters Kobie Rasmussen and Dr. Shirin Morad; and niece Faith Rasmussen.
A celebration of the lives of Helen and Ali will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley with Rev. Dr. Ford Price officiating. A time of visiting with the family will be from 10 am until the time of service on Wednesday at the Church.
The committal service for Helen will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 2:45pm at the Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
