Sergeant First Class (Ret.) James Francis “Jim” Rollins, 83, of Ripley, WV, passed away July 2, 2018, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born August 11, 1934, in Ripley, WV, the son of the late Victor Marion and Willa Lucille (McKown) Rollins. His wife of 62 years, Joyce Marie (Byrd) Rollins and son, CWO5, Troy E. Rollins of the West Virginia Army National Guard, also preceded him in death.
Jim was retired from the United States Army and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was the recipient of three bronze stars. Jim was a master electrician and following his retirement from the military he returned home to found Rollins Electric; a career that would span another 39 years. During that time, as time permitted, he enjoyed assisting with the family business, Rollins Lake, and gardening.
Survivors include his son, Tim Rollins of Lillington, NC; daughter, Sharon Neal (Jeff) of Coats, NC grandchildren, Spc. 4, Tyler “T.J.” Rollins, Victor Rollins, veteran (Muriah), Troy “T.J.” Rollins, Jr., James “J.T.” Rollins, Parish Rollins, Isaac Rollins, Max Rollins and Brandy LeQuire (John); great grandchildren, Spc. 4, Justin LeQuire (Sandra), Will LeQuire, Caleb LeQuire, Rachel LeQuire, Kiley Rollins and Holden Rollins; daughter-in-law Stephanie Rollins and dear friends, Ron and Becky Vest.
There will be no pubic services. Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, is providing arrangements.
