Shirlee Litteral McClure, 77, of Ravenswood, passed from her earthly home into the arms of Jesus on June 28, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Shirlee was born on September 17, 1940, in Greenup County, KY, to Wayne and Clara Oliver Litteral.
She retired from Jackson County Schools in 2006 as a Kindergarten Aide with 23 years of service at Henry J. Kaiser Elementary. She was also a self-taught and accomplished seamstress and made clothes for many people in the Ravenswood area, as well as the majorette uniforms for Ravenswood High School.
Shirlee was a longtime member of North United Methodist Church where she taught Kindergarten Sunday School, worked with the youth, and was a member of the choir.
Along with her parents, Shirlee was preceded in death by her two sisters and a brother, Margie Salyers, Kitten Farson and Edward Litteral.
Her survivors include her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Donald; her daughter, Sandy Confer and her husband Brent of Ravenswood; her sisters, Faye Phelps of Argillite, KY, Barbara Carter and Patty Leadingham, both of Greenup, KY; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Friends may visit the family on Monday, July 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood. Her funeral will be on Tuesday, July 3, at 2 p.m. with visitation from noon until 2 p.m.
The family would like to thank Shirlee’s doctor, Dr. William Cartwright, MD, of Parkersburg for his many years of loving care. They would also like to thank Tina, Sharon, Brittney, Diane, Melissa, Tammy, and Dr. Boggess of Kanawha County Hospice, Charleston, for their special care of Shirlee. They are truly angels on Earth.
