Ellsworth Riley Archer, 90, of Rockport, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center.

Ellsworth Riley Archer was born November 18, 1927, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late John Riley Archer and Elsie Mae Holiday Archer.

He worked at the B & O Railroad for 44 and a half years. He drove a school bus for Wood County Schools from 1963-1973 bus number 52. He retired from the B&O Railroad in 1989.  He was a member of the 14th Ave. Gospel Mission Church.

He is survived by his wife, Oncie E. Thompson Archer whom he married August 17, 1946; two sons, Junior Archer (Sharon) of Rockport and Dale Archer (Martha) of Mineral Wells; three sisters, Sylvia Damiani of Portland, Oregon, Ellen Douglas of Jackson County and Shirley Freshour of Columbus, TX; one brother, Lloyd Archer of Jackson County; grandchildren, Delilah Stockpole, David Jr Miller, Tammy and Kenny Fury, Michelle (Steve) Wells, Nicholas (Ginger) Archer, Melissa (Erick) Stuart, and Elizabeth Lipscomb; great-grandchildren, Cyndi (Ronnie) Talbot, Joshua Fury, Courtney Stockpole, Chelsie and Zachery Wells, Luke and Jacob Stuart and Katelynn Lipscomb; and great-great-grandchildren, Brianna and Jacob Talbot.

In addition to his parents, Ellsworth was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Heibel; sister, Rosie Young and one-half brother, Olen Archer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Gates Ridge Cemetery at Rockport, WV. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
