Charles W. Miller, 76, of Dunedin, Florida, formerly of Ripley, West Virginia, died Wednesday November 16, 2016 at Morton Plant Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Twila Barnhart Miller, son, David P. Albaugh (Julie), Dunedin, Florida, granddaughters, Sarina Albaugh, Dunedin, Florida and Jessica Moore, Clarksburg, WV, her mother Beth Moore, also of Clarksburg, two “special sons”, Gonzalo Condes (Beatriz), Boston, MA, and Erwin Krapf (Melisa), Dusseldorf, Germany. Brother, Randy Miller (Lynne), Morehead City, NC, sisters Angela Higley (Dave) St. Albans, WV and Kathy Giselle Beirne, Charleston, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Miller and Kathleen Richards Miller, Elkview, WV, and son Christopher Albaugh, Knoxville, TN.
Charlie was an accomplished musician and master teacher, who enjoyed a respected and rewarding career in music. During his military service, Charlie played clarinet in the navy band, sailing around most of the world. He taught in both Kanawha and Calhoun counties in West Virginia as Band/Vocal Director. After retirement from Calhoun County Schools, he taught at Glenville State College, as professor of Choral Music. After moving to Florida, he was active in both Dunedin Community Band and Dunedin Community Chorus as well First Presbyterian Church choir.
He touched many lives with his gentle, encouraging and positive manner.
Charlie was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Ripley, WV.
A Memorial service is being held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Epworth United Methodist Church with visitation at 10am and service at 11am. Interment will be at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery at 3pm the same date.
