Dorothy Price McMurray, 97, of Starke, Florida, passed away on May 14, 2012, in Florida. She was born on November 16, 1914, in Spencer, WV, daughter of the late John W. and Esta Price. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Starke, Florida. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Wetzel Chapter #17, Spencer, WV, and was a Real Estate Agent in Starke, Florida. She is survived by her friends and caregivers, Linda Leonard and Shirley Carter; cousins, Rosalee Vickers and Neil Price, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. McMurray, who died on March 28, 1998, and her brother, Earl Price. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Ravenswood Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Pastor S. R. Parsons, Jr. officiating. Larry S. Knight, 68, of Given,

Larry Stephen Knight, 68, of Given, WV died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born August 5, 1943 in Spencer, WV to the late Sherman and Martha (Runnion) Knight. Larry graduated from St. Albans High School in 1961 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for The Dow Chemical Company for 36 years and had many cherished friends from his years there. Survivors include his stepdaughters, Alicia Cole (Jewett) Tucker of Fraziers Bottom, WV, Christi (Vicente) Cruz of Scott Depot, WV, brothers Danny (Frances) Knight of Milton, WV, Michael (Carolyn) Knight of Given, WV, grandchildren Kya, Kami, and Cristian Cruz, nephew, Scott Knight, and nieces Terri (Knight) Lewis, and Michelle (Knight) Messina. Larry enjoyed traveling, hunting and NASCAR, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. Larry donated his body to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry for science and medical research. A special thanks to Frances Knight for the loving care she provided Larry during the last few months of his illness. There are no service planned at this time. Rosemary Lynn Wickline, 51, of Fairplain, passed away May 8, 2012 at her home following a sudden and unexpected illness. She was born July 11, 1960 in Wheeling WV, daughter of the late Robert G. and Mary Fitting Williams. In addition to being a homemaker, Rosemary was a long-time cook and familiar face at the M&R Restaurant on South Church Street in Ripley. Surviving: Husband, Darrell Wickline of Fairplain; Son, Brandon Wickline of Morgantown; Daughter, Amanda Keefer (Pastor Donald Keefer) of Ripley; Brother, Robert Wayne Williams of El Paso, Texas; Sisters, Linda Lou Miller of Dover, Ohio, Susan Mae Simmons of Parkersburg and Ada Mae Barnette (David) of Leon; A special nephew that she considered her son, James Hall of Sandyville. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 15 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home Her son-in-law, Pastor Don Keefer of the Charity Independent Baptist Church, will officiate. Robert L. Osborne, Sr

On Thursday May 10, 2012, Robert L. Osborne, Sr, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. Born December 3, 1931in Cyclone he was the son of the late Oley and Blanch Osborne. Robert retired from Ford Motor Co in 1990 after 30 years of service. He then relocated to Ripley. He became a Christian in his early years and lived in entire life as a walking witness. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Beulah Osborne; a son Robert Osborne,Jr.; a great-grandson, Jacob Allen Spurlock; and six siblings including his twin brother. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 8 years, Lorheda M. Osborne of Ripley; a son, Randall Osborne; three daughters, Carolyn Wolfe and husband, Carl; Sharon Long and husband Carl, Loretta Chastain; and Amanda Hays and husband, Jimmy; a sister, Dorsie Perry; step children; Connie Jarrell husband, Jerry; Debra Mitchell, Billy Mitchell and wife Amy; Jerry Mitchell and wife Tabatha; and Randy Mitchell and wife Teresa; eleven grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and a host of family and friends. ex Oliver Myers, 72 of Ravenswood passed away May 12, 2012 at Charleston Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born January 27, 1940 at Charleston a son of the late Della Gay Westfall. He was employed for many years in Truck Service. He is survived by his companion of many years Lena Daniels; sons Mark Myers of Ravenswood and Roy Myers of WV; grandchildren Correna Myers and Dakota Myers; cousins Noble Davis of Ripley and Preston Bailey of Liberty. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Myers and a sister Eva. The family is honoring his wishes to be cremated and a private service held at a later date. Dayton S. Sidwell, 77, of Mount Alto, WV, formerly of New Haven, WV, passed away April 27, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV, after an extended illness. Dayton was born in Glenville, WV April 25, 1935, the son of the late Della May Wright Sidwell and Floyd Sidwell of Glenville, WV. He was a Christian by faith and attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Mount Alto, WV. He owned and operated service stations in Ohio and West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Anna Jane King Sidwell; one son, Gary Sidwell of Creston, OH; and his brothers, Cline Sidwell of Glenville, WV, Isaac Sidwell of Wadsworth, OH, and Russell Glen of Glenville, WV. Dayton is survived by his children, Christina Burkey (Don) of Simpsonville, SC, Dan Sidwell (Lesa) of Long Bottom, OH, Sandra Kieffer (Norman) of Ravenswood, WV, and Karen Click (Brian) of Mount Alto, WV; grandchildren, Ryan and Roger Drouhard, Dan and Derek Sidwell, Brian and Kimberly Castor, Kevin and Kelcie Kieffer, Diedra Click Casto, Josh and Patrick Click; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Brooke Drouhard, Dannee Paisley, Laynie Brantly, Cameron and Calli Sidwell and Kalli and Brailey Click. A celebration of Dayton’s life will be announced at a later date. Shirley Ann Skinner, 72, of Gay, passed away April 24, 2012 at Eldercare of Ripley following an extended illness. Shirley was born July 10, 1939, daughter of the late Arthur and Gracie Koontz Troyer. She was a production worker at several Alliance, Ohio plants, including Coastal Pet and Alliance Manufacturing. She was a Christian and enjoyed attending several area churches. She was also a musician and played music with her husband, Walter, until her health prohibited it. Surviving: Husband, Walter Skinner of Gay; Son, Bobby Skinner of Alliance, Ohio; Daughter, Tammy Sue Shamblin of Given; Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Tipple of North Carolina. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m. at the Parsons Cemetery, Gay, with Pastor Bill Holley officiating. Interment will follow the service. Steven Lester Shockey , 64, of Ripley, WV passed away on May 1, 2012 at his home He was born June 7, 1947 in Parkersburg, WV to Harry Lester Shockey and Geneva Evelyn Mullinex Shockey He was a chemical operator at Solvay. He worked for 38 years at Union Carbide, which is now call Solvay in Marietta, Ohio. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, camping and NASCAR racing, having been to Bristol, Charlotte, and Indianapolis. She was a homemaker and attended the Second Baptist Church in Ravenswood as well as the Pleasant Grove Church in Reedy. She was born June 25, 1934 in Evans, WV, a daughter of the late Ernie Denver and Daisy Violet (Barr) Donohew. Her husband, Earlie Junior Hoschar; daughter, Shirley Lanham; brother, Wilbur Donohew and a nephew, General Donohew, also preceded her in death. She was a Protestant, enjoyed gardening, was a member of the West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women and was a former member of the Jackson County Democratic Executive Committee. Surviving are her sons, Larry J. Hoschar and his companion, Tina Thaxton of Evans, and Ricky Hoschar of Cottageville; brothers, Grant Donohew, Kenneth Donohew, and Carroll Donohew all of Evans; sisters, Vesta Livingston of Evans, and Christina King of Ripley; grandchildren, Kim Hill, Bobbi Jo Hoschar, Ricky Allen Hoschar, Jr., and Jennifer Phillips; step-granddaughter Tashina Castle Stewart; one great grandchild, and very special neighbors Tom and Charlotte Campbell, and Trooper, Dan Herdman. Robert Greenleaf Samples, 81, of Cottageville, passed away Sunday morning, April 29, 2012, at Eldercare of Ripley following an extended illness. He was born October 29, 1929 at Wallback, son of the late Hobart and Pearl Greenleaf Samples. Robert was a well-tender in the energy industry and an accomplished machinest. He attended the Southside Baptist Church and was a talented musician on numerous instruments even though he could not read a note of music. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Ann Hardway Samples, 15 years ago. Surviving: Son, Gary Samples (Vici) of Cottageville; Daughter, Renee Samples King of Meigs County, Ohio; Sister, Ruth Shock of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Grandchildren, Gary M. Samples II, Jacob Eric Samples, Rebekah Lee Samples, Nicole “Nicci” Cobb, Josh Steele, Ashley Nichole King and ten great-Grandchildren. Larry Allen “Frog” Groves, 70 of Ripley passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Jackson General Hospital following a long illness. He was born March 1, 1942 at Clendenin, a son of the late William French and Opal Westfall Groves. He was a member of the Ripley High School Class of 1960 and was a Welder and retired from Kardex Systems in Marietta. He is survived by his wife Carol Groves; his children Angela Groves Tate (Jeff) of Shelby, NC and Chris Groves (Judith Ann) of Ripley; brothers Bill Groves (Mary) of Marietta, Gene Groves (Joyce) of Ripley, Bob Groves (Helen) of Sandyville; sisters Zella Fisher (Jack) of Ripley, Mary Hoselton (Tom) of Ravenswood and Brenda Sheets (Gary) of Ravenswood; Grandchildren Kade and Maddie Groves and Brady, Alex, Carley and Mia Tate. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Groves. She was born May 20, 1927 in Ravenswood, a daughter of the late Charles Lesley and Orah Leone (Miller) Williams. Her twin sister Orene Leone Hupp also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and attended the Independent United Brethren Church, Ravenswood, WV. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, singing and watching her hummingbirds. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Raymond Ira Casto; sons, Danny Ray (Cindy) Casto, Joe Michael (Sandy) Casto and Leslie Scott Casto all of Ravenswood; grandchildren Bettina (Casto) Hersman, Caleb Casto, Seth Casto, Jessica Casto, and five great grandchildren. also survived by a nephew, Kenneth Eugene Hupp of Wilding.
