Dayton S. Sidwell, 77, of Mount Alto, WV, formerly of New Haven, WV, passed away April 27, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV, after an extended illness.
Dayton was born in Glenville, WV April 25, 1935, the son of the late Della May Wright Sidwell and Floyd Sidwell of Glenville, WV. He was a Christian by faith and attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Mount Alto, WV.
He owned and operated service stations in Ohio and West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Anna Jane King Sidwell; one son, Gary Sidwell of Creston, OH; and his brothers, Cline Sidwell of Glenville, WV, Isaac Sidwell of Wadsworth, OH, and Russell Glen of Glenville, WV.
Dayton is survived by his children, Christina Burkey (Don) of Simpsonville, SC, Dan Sidwell (Lesa) of Long Bottom, OH, Sandra Kieffer (Norman) of Ravenswood, WV, and Karen Click (Brian) of Mount Alto, WV; grandchildren, Ryan and Roger Drouhard, Dan and Derek Sidwell, Brian and Kimberly Castor, Kevin and Kelcie Kieffer, Diedra Click Casto, Josh and Patrick Click; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Brooke Drouhard, Dannee Paisley, Laynie Brantly, Cameron and Calli Sidwell and Kalli and Brailey Click.
A celebration of Dayton’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennewa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311. The family would like to say the staff at the Hubbard Hospice House is wonderful and we deeply appreciate the services they provide. We also want to extend a thank you to River Valley Health and Wellness Center in Ravenswood and Dr. Greer for the kindness and respect they treated Dayton with during his illness.
