Violet Mae “Kate” Stalnaker, 75, passed on quietly February 22, 2010.

She was born in Jackson County on October 15, 1934, to the late John and Verna Rowley Snyder. She was also preceded in death by children Fredrick “Robbie” Parsons Jr. and Marsha Kay Dunkle, grandsons Lucas and Seth Dunkle, and sisters Pearl Reed, Flora Jean Reynolds, and Frances Comer.

Kate worked as a waitress, cook, and cashier at various locations and at Campbell Soup Company in Ohio.  She was a member of the Jackson County At Large Red Hat Society of Ripley. She loved her flower gardens, mysteries, gospel music and thoroughly enjoyed visits from her great-grandchildren, family, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by daughters Marlene (Dan) Harden of Wayne, OH, and Marjie Parsons of Crooked Run Road; grandchildren Brian Harris and Nathan Harris of Wayne, OH, Jay Wood of Texas, KatieJean (Matt) Heilmann of North Hill in Ripley, Sara Beth (Ryan) Tolbert of North Bloomdale, OH, and Ray (Julie) Dunkle of Confluence, PA; great-grandchildren Brandon Damschroder and Drew Harris, both of Ohio, Deanna Wood of Florida, Lincoln Paul and CoraJean Heilmann of North Hill in Ripley, Lucas and Delton Dunkle of Confluence, PA; sister Patsy (Bret) Dixon of Texas; brothers Roger (Hollie) Snyder of Louisiana and Johnny (Trish) Snyder of Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 26, at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley. Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 25. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley. 

If you do not wish to send flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Mt. Hope Cemetery Fund.
