Four sentenced and six plead guilty in Circuit Court

Four people were sentenced and six others entered guilty pleas recently in Jackson County Circuit Court. 

Meryl Siders had previously entered a guilty plea to felony count of driving under the influence, 3rd offense.  Siders was sentenced to one to three years in a state penitentiary and ordered to pay a $3,000 fine as well as $267 in court costs. 

Kenneth Mendenhall had previously entered a guilty plea to breaking and entering the Village Pizza in Ripley.  Mendenhall was ordered to pay restitution to the victims and was transferred to probation for five years. 

Jared G. Wiggins had previously entered a guilty plea to one count of manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana).  Based on the recommendation of a pre-sentence investigation, Wiggins was placed on probation for three years, during which time he was ordered to spend a total of four months in jail at times to be determined by his probation officer.  Additionally, he was ordered to serve 150 hours of community service, 20 hours of litter control and ordered to pay court costs. 

Robin Dale Cavender previously pleaded guilty to one count of domestic battery.  Cavender was sentenced to twenty days in the regional jail and ordered to pay a $200 fine plus court costs. 

Ernest Starkey and Gary Lee Toler both entered guilty pleas to one felony count of failure to register as sex offenders.  The cases were not related.  Both individuals were ordered to appear in Circuit Court on November 17 at 9:30 a.m. for sentencing. 

Michael Coughenour pleaded guilty to one felony count of delivery of a controlled substance (Oxycontin).  Coughenour was ordered to reappear on November 12 at 9:30 a.m. for sentencing. 
Roy Schweinsberg entered a guilty plea one felony count of forgery.  Schweinsberg will reappear for sentencing on November 17 at 9:30 a.m. 

Aaron McDermitt entered a guilty plea to one felony count of forgery and one felony count of uttering.  As part of the plea agreement, McDermitt was ordered to pay restitution to the victims in the forgery case as well as to victims in a separate petit larceny and burglary case.  As a condition of the plea, the burglary case will be dropped.  McDermitt will reappear for sentencing at 9:30 a.m. on November 17.

Carl Holley entered a guilty plea to one felony count of failure to register or provide notice of registration change under the Sex Offender Registration Act.  Holley failed to provide a change of employment status to the registration office.  Holley will reappear in Circuit Court on November 17 for sentencing.
