A man who arrived at Jackson County Circuit Court Monday morning expecting nothing more than a routine pre-trial hearing found himself being escorted out of the courtroom in handcuffs following the execution of a warrant for his arrest.
Christopher John Jenkins, 19, of Sissonville appeared before Judge Thomas C. Evans, III, Monday morning in Circuit Court for a pre-trial motions hearing.
Jenkins was indicted earlier this year on two misdemeanor counts of petit larceny, two felony counts of breaking and entering other than a dwelling, one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony and one felony count of fleeing from custody for allegedly participating in the break-ins of Parsons General Store and Suck’s Ashland last November.
Following the hearing, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy B.L. Varney placed Jenkins in handcuffs, executing an arrest warrant obtained by Sheriff’s Department Sergeant J.F. Bare.
According to the new complaint, Jenkins is charged with breaking and entering the Fairplain garage of Gerald Barnett, defacing his truck with paint, and stealing an electric drill.
Jenkins was arraigned Monday on the new felony count of breaking and entering. Bond was set at $50,000 for the new count.
Jenkins remains incarcerated at South Central Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
