An Ohio man was arrested last week after a traffic stop allegedly uncovered several prescription pills in his possession.
According to the complaint filed by Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy R.H. Mellinger, on Sunday, November 15, he and others conducted a routine traffic stop of a white Chevy truck on Route 56 near Ravenswood.
During the stop, officers obtained permission from the driver, Jerome Scott Miihlbach, 28, of Portland, OH, to search the vehicle.
During the search, Mellinger allegedly found a hidden compartment in the truck, one which he alleges was consistent with drug trafficking.
Inside, Mellinger says he found a cellophane wrapper containing four Oxycontin and six Lortab tablets. According to Mellinger, the pills have a street value of approximately $430.
In a subsequent interview with the police, Miihlbach allegedly admitted that he intended to sell some of the pills and give a portion of the money back to the person he received them from; the remainder of the pills would be used for his personal consumption.
Miihlbach was charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and arraigned in Magistrate Court; bond was set at $20,000.
Miihlbach remains free on bond pending further proceedings in the case.
