The Jackson County Board of Education meeting in regular session last Thursday evening acted on several personnel matters.

The Board accepted the resignation of Ripley High teacher Ashley Heindl effective March 9.
A resignation from John Wilkinson as assistant softball coach at Ripley High was accepted.

The Board employed Annetta Fields, Kathy Jones, and Luke Parsons as after-school homebound instructors on an as-needed basis. Luke Parsons was also hired as assistant boys’ track coach at Ripley Middle. Dana Hager was hired as assistant softball coach at Ripley Middle School.

Lauren Biafora, Mary Pat Glover, and Mike Lucas were added to the substitute teacher list.

Cindy Dunlap was hired as a substitute aide/sign language specialist.

The Board approved Delores Jenkins as an extra-duty assignment bus operator in the Ripley area.

Douglas Vannest was approved as an authorized, certified coach in softball at Ravenswood Middle.

Alison Poole was named as an authorized, certified coach in softball at Ripley High.

Medical leave was approved for Kirby Whited, custodian at Evans and Ripley Elementary through May 22. The effective end date of leave of absence for Erica Conant was changed from March 26 to April 23. Family leave was approved for Adda Bailey, aide at Fairplain Elementary, to be taken intermittently beginning March 8.

Summer school programs for both elementary and high school were approved.

ZMM Architects and Engineers were approved for the design of the Evans Elementary addition.

The Board will meet tonight with LSIC’s from Ripley area schools at 7 p.m. at the Ripley Middle School library.

President Carroll Staats also announced a special session for Thursday, March 11, to deal with student hearings.

The next regular meeting of the Board will be on March 18 at 7 p.m. in the Board office.
