Ravenswood High School has been awarded a $2,000 grant for the purpose of funding a “Lookin’ Out” safe teen driving program.
This program is funded by Erie Insurance and sponsored by Erie Agent Teresa Thacker of the Ravenswood Insurance Centre.
The goals of the Lookin’ Out Program are to save lives and encourage safe driving, especially among young drivers.
“Together we can promote safe driving habits among teens and educate them about risk factors such as lack of seat belt use, speeding or other reckless behavior, alcohol or drug use; passengers and their influence on the driver; distractions (loud music, cell phones, eating) and etc.,” said Thacker. The Lookin’ Out program will be co-chaired by advisor Polla Johnson and the Ravenswood Cheerleaders.
Auto crashes are the number one killer of teens ages 15-19, More than 5,000 teens die each year as a result of auto crashes.
“We are using the Lookin’ Out program to make a difference at our school. If we can save one teen life then it’s all worth it! “ stated Thacker. This is the fourth year that RvHS has received this grant.
