The Jackson County Board of Education set several special meeting dates Thursday during their regular session.

A special session will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16 to approve support operation contracts.

The BOE also will conduct a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Ravenswood High School Library to discuss the school calendar.

The board also will conduct a special work session at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 23 for training on the Board Docs program. The program will provide a way for Jackson County Schools to share information with the public, including board agendas and other important information, said Superintendent Blaine Hess.

The board will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 at the board office.

In other business:

• The board approved an out-of-state trip request for Ripley High School FFA students to go to Indianapolis, Indiana, Oct. 23-27 for the National Convention.

• The board approved an out-of-state trip for Ripley High School wrestling students to go to North Canton, Ohio, Dec. 14-15 for an event.

• The board approved a request for Gilmore Elementary School Students to go to Vincent, Ohio, for a trip to Sweet Apple Farms.

The board addressed the following personnel matters:

• Retirement: Nadine McCune, Cook, Cottageville Elementary School, effective Oct. 1. Peggy Holliday, Executive Secretary, County Office, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

• Resignation: James Hayman, Assistant Girls Basketball Coach, Ravenswood Middle School, effective Sept. 26.

• Transfers: Kim Osborne, from an aide, special education, Kenna Elementary School to an aide, kindergarten, Gilmore Elementary School, effective Jan. 2, 2019. Deborah Pautz, from Custodian III, Ravenswood High School, to Custodian IV, Henry J. Kaiser Elementary School, effective Oct. 5.
