PRINCE GEORGE — Burrowsville Ruritan Club is holding its' annual Apple Fest on Nov. 4. The following apples are available fresh from the Dickie Brothers Orchard: Fuji, Granny Smith, Red Stayman, Winesap, Red Delicious, Jonagold, and Golden Delicious.
Prices are $37 for a bushel, $21 for half a bushel, and $12 for a peck. Orders must be placed and paid for by Oct. 26.

PETERSBURG — The Colonial Heights Kiwanis Shrimp Feast, sponsored by Strosnider Chevrolet and Fruit Fixed, will be held from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Old Towne Civic Center, 136 River St.
This event features food and golden beverages. A live band will perform from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The cost is $25 donation in advance; $30 donation at the door. Tickets are being sold at Citizens Band and Trust, Sherwood Title, the Colonial Heights Chamber office; and from any Colonial Heights Kiwanis member.
Proceeds from this event support the William "Bill" Humphries Fund and Kiwanis community projects.
PETERSBURG — Southside Regional Medical Center will offer a Basic Life Support Provider CPR Training class on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The class will be held in Classrooms A & B, located at 200 Medical Park Boulevard. Class size is limited and the fee is $65.

Retired teachers to meet
PETERSBURG — The Petersburg/Prince George Retired Teachers Association invites all retired teachers to join the association at its next meeting: this Tuesday, noon, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 228 Halifax St.
Guest speaker will be Jacqueline Weistgarber with the Social Security Administration, who will speak about Medicare enrollment and benefits.
The next meeting of the P/PGRTA will be the third Tuesday in November.
Big Game Contest
COURTLAND — The 78th annual Eastern/Western Regional & State Big Game Contest will be held Sept. 23-24 at Southampton County Fairgrounds, 25374 New Market Road.
Entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 23. On Sept. 24, the event opens at 9 a.m. with awards presented at 3 p.m.
