JACKSON COUNTY - The Community Foundation of Jackson County is inviting businesses and individuals to sponsor the Charity Challenge and Community Celebration Benefit.
“We need the help of our community to enhance the efforts of the Community Foundation. Why- we have several charities that are in need of support”, commented Christy Crowell, JCCF, Inc. Executive Director.
The selected charities involved in Charity Challenge this year are: Sandyville Senior High Steppers, Ripley Rotary Club, Ripley High School Athletic Boosters (Project Graduation), The Community Foundation of Jackson County, Aqua Fit Program- Jackson County Commission on Aging, CASA of the Fifth Judicial Circuit, Guardians of the Children- Mountain State Chapter, Jackson County 4H Foundation, Jackson County Developmental Center (JCDC), Jackson County Hunting Heroes, Jackson County Junior Fair Foundation, Inc., Jackson General Hospital, Main Street Ripley, Operation Fancy Free, Operation Jackson County Veterans Inc., Parchment Valley Baptist Church Snak Pak Program, Pilot Club of Jackson County, Ravenswood High School Choral Boosters, Ravenswood Lions Club and the Ripley High School Alumni Association.
The Community Foundation of Jackson County is providing a unique opportunity for sponsorships. The Charity Challenge Run and Fun Walk & Matching Fund Program offers local charities a fun and innovative way to raise funds collaboratively. Sponsorship donations support a pool of matching grant challenge funds that provide a $1 for every $2 raised by each local charity during a five month period (May – September). The Charity Challenge Run & Walk is held on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
As a finale to the community’s fundraising efforts- One month later on October 19th, a Community Celebration Benefit will be held to award funding to the 20 participating nonprofits and celebrate the program’s success. “We are thrilled to host Rocky Bleier as our celebrity guest speaker this year to increase awareness with our Focus- Honoring All Who Served. We have over 2900 Veterans in Jackson County and the 6 organizations that support the Veterans need to be recognized”, commented Crowell.
As both a Vietnam veteran and four-time Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bleier’s background and message is a sure fit for the Foundation’s 2017 focus, “Honoring All Who Served.”
The community will be inspired to “Lead through Teamwork, Perseverance and Hope,” according to JCCF, Inc. Board Chair Will Hosafllook. He mentions that Bleier’s story is a gripping tale of courage on both the football fields of America and the battle fields of Vietnam. Bleier’s motivational message details how ordinary people can become extraordinary achievers.
Known for his optimism, sense of humor and steadfast determination, Bleier takes audiences from his early years through his professional career and talks about the lessons he learned along the way … lessons from which we all can benefit.
Sponsors making a donation of $2,500 or more ($2,500-$4,999 =2 VIP tickets and $5,000+ =4 VIP tickets) will be given the opportunity to attend a private reception with Rocky Bleier from 5:30-6:00 p.m. prior to the Community Celebration Benefit. Sponsorship costs and benefits are outlined on the attached pages. A sponsorship pledge can be made now (to be a part of the six month advance publicity) and donations can be made in the early fall by September 30, 2017 to take advantage of WV NIP tax credits (if available).
