RAVENSWOOD – A Ravenswood man faces felony charges for attempting to seduce a minor female by using obscene material and with possessing and distributing material portraying minors in explicit conduct, following an investigation by Ravenswood Police officers.
Cody M. Anderson, 22, of Ravenswood, was evenualyy arrested and charged in the case, which beagn with notification by 911 dispatch of a complaint by a Ravenswood man that his daughter was receiving nude images from an adult male.
Investigators were shown sexual messages allegedly sent by Anderson to the girl via Facebook messenger.
Confronted at his Ashton Street home, Anderson agreed to accompany officers to Ravenswood Police headquarters for an interview.
In that interview, Anderson allegedly admitted to having sexual conversations with the juvenile girl and claimed they had a “role playing relationship” for about a week. Anderson said he walked the girl to school on a couple of occasions. He denied sending or receiving explicit images with the girl.
Anderson allegedly admitted he had a “problem” and had explicit images of children on his computer hard drive, although most were cartoons and liked and had downloaded videos and images of girls as young as 10 years old.
A search warrant was obtained and served at Anderson’s residence by Ravenswood Police officers. Anderson’s external hard drive and personal computer were seized. The hard drive contained explicit video of juvenile girls and hundreds of explicit images.
Anderson was subsequently arrested and charged with felony use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor and felony distribution and exhibition of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
He remains lodged in the South Central Regional Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
