RAVENSWOOD - Stolen firearms were recovered as the result of a recent traffic stop by Ravenswood Police officers. 

Jordan Hughart, 23, of Trenton Ohio was charged with receiving or transferring stolen property, and is lodged ithe South Central Regional Jaiul in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Ravenswood Police pulled over a vehicle in Ravenswood for defective equipment. Upon contact,  the driver appeared extremely nervous.

During a search for weapons, a glass pipe was allegedly found on the driver. The driver also had a small plastic bag containing meth.

The officer asked the driver and Hughart, who was a passenger in the vehicle, if there were any weapons or other illegal substances in the vehicle and they both said no.

During a search of the vehicle, meth was found along with seven                                     firearms. Five of the firearms appeared to be wet.

Officers found one of the firearms had the serial number removed and another weapon had been illegally modified by having the stock and barrel sawed off.

Hughart told police he had purchased all of the firearms from a man at a shooting range and had buried them so no one would find them.

It was subsequently discovered five of the firearms had been stolen earlier from a Ripley resident.

Hughart was arrested and charged.

Hughart was taken to jail.
