JACKSON COUNTY - In the aftermath of Sunday’s stunning 34-28 overtime win by the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI, it became perfectly clear that a former Jackson County ARF dog’s Today Show pick Friday morning was spot-on after all.
Zowie, fomerly Pickles here, was a guest of honor on the NBC-TV morning show to make a Super Bowl pick--something she has been very adept a doing over the years.
In 2014, Pickles and her puppies were fostered by Mary and Teresa Hager prior to her leaving the area for adoption through the ARF program and a new name, Zowie.
Friday on national TV, Zowie was presented with two dog bowls containing treats--one flagged “Falcons (Atland Falcons, NFC chamopions)” and the other flagged “Patriots (New England Patriots,AFC champions).”
At the moment of truth Zowie goggled up the contents of the Falcons bowl first, but then chowed down with equal enthusiasm on the Patriots bowl. Hmmmm...
Pressure? Friday morning lights? A doggone boob tube bust?
Not so fast, Beegle Breath!
Actually as it turned out, Zowie’s TV star moment was eerily spot-on.
In Sunday’s wild Super Bowlgame, the Atlanta Falcons dominated for nearly three quarters, leading 28-3 late in the third quarter.
Then, the New England Patriots pulled off a miraculous record comeback to tie the game in the final minute of regulation play (28-28) and send the game into overtime.
There, the Patriots took the kickoff and drove for the winning touchown pass to steal an incredible 34-28 win.
So Zowie was, after all, more prophetic than first take appeared.
Well done, doggone it...have a Scooby Snack!
