Veteran’s Day program is set tomorrow at courthouse memorial

The Jackson County Veterans Day Program, sponsored by American Legion Post 107, will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

The program will begin with the posting of the sentries at 10:30 a.m. by Corporal of the Guard Chuck Smith. Music will be provided by Tom Marlow until 11 a.m. when Sergeant of the Guard Gareth Smith will post the colors.

Rev. Darrell Johnson will deliver the opening prayer, followed by Jackson County veteran Roy Guthrie singing the National Anthem. Master of Ceremonies Randall Bare will lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Marine Corps League Commandant George Gill will present a plaque on behalf of all county veterans to Athletic Outfitters and Morrison Trailers for their support of the veterans in Jackson County.

The Jackson County veteran organizations will be honoring women who wore the uniform or served their country working as a “Rosey Riveter” during the war.

Floretta Nesselroad, Betty Parker, and Ruby Shumate will receive a patriotic medal for their service to their country.

Closing prayer will be delivered by Chaplain Paul Palmer and then a wreath will be placed at the memorial.

A 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps will close the program.

Refreshments will be provided by the American Legion Post 107 Auxiliary.
