Harry Keith “Pete” Gould, 69, of Murraysville, WV, passed away after a short illness on February 18, 2012, at his home in Murraysville.
He was born April 7, 1942, in Lockhart, WV, to Harry K. and Irene Casto Gould. He was a 1960 graduate of Ravenswood High School and attended Glenville State College. He spent four years in the United States Air Force, of which two years were spent in England where he learned to operate heavy equipment on the flight line.
After returning to the states, he was employed at Kaiser Aluminum and in 1972 made the decision to become a full time contractor with the help of Carol Slaven, who remained a loyal employee for 35 years. In 1982, he formed Pete Gould and Sons, Inc., and it remains a successful pipeline company today.
His favorite hobbies were farming, camping, all sports, and he was a longtime supporter of Marshall University. He was a member of Greenhills Country Club and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 132, as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ravenswood, Nemesis Shriners of Parkersburg, WV, and a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Irvin Gould, and grandparents, Irvin and Dola Casto, and Wilbur and Inez Gould.
Surviving are his wife and partner of 42 years, Cheryl Lynn Williams Gould; sons, Bryan Keith Gould of Ravenswood, Edwin Dale Gould of Murraysville, James William Gould and wife Jamie Lynn of Murraysville; two grandchildren, Bryan James Bever and Gracie Lynn Gould; one great grand grandson, Carter James Bever; two sisters, Ruth Currey and Kay Gould, both of Ravenswood; first cousins, Karen Miller of Cottageville, and James Casto of Murraysville; one aunt, Ruth Gould Bosworth of Marengo, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a world of friends.
Services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood with Pastor Danny McVey officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family at the church on Monday, February 20, from 2:00 to 9:00 pm.
