Degee Lynn Ashby Warne, age 51, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away suddenly on August 23 following a brief illness. She was born on October 10, 1962 to Doug and Gladys Ashby of Ravenswood, WV where she was raised, and where she graduated in 1980 from Ravenswood High School. She then attended Alderson Broadus College where she was a part of the “West Virginians” musical performance group. Degee later graduated from Fairmont State University with a degree in Music Education.  Degee dedicated her life to her students throughout over 20 years of teaching. She taught music at Heritage Christian School, and later at Washington Irving Middle School where she led the four-time state-champion “Show Stoppin’ Toppers.”  In addition to her passion for music, Degee dedicated her life to her family. Together with father Terry Warne, she was the mother of Andrew Joseph, age 25, and Katie Elisabeth, age 22. She was a loving mother, exhibiting compassion and dedication throughout every aspect of their lives.  Degee is survived by parents Doug and Gladys Ashby, Ravenswood; brother Doug Jr. Columbus, OH; sister Susan (Brian) Massie, Athens, GA, and nephews Benjamin, Tyler, Spencer, and Bode Massie, and niece Mattie Massie, all of Athens, GA.  Donations can be made to the Washington Irving Middle School Show Choir in Degee’s name.  Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at the Horizons Church, 8302 Mt. Clare Road, Lost Creek, WV on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kelly Clevenger presiding.  Ms. Warne will lie in state one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at A service of Amos Carvelli Funeral Home.
