JACKSON COUNTY - Our Community’s Foundation – Jackson County will sponsor the 12th annual Charity Challenge on Saturday, September 20.  Foundation volunteers are encouraging anyone who is interested in running and walking for one of the 20 participating charities to complete their registration forms online by midnight on September 18, so they can take advantage of the early registration fees.
This year walkers and runners can register online at www.TriStateRacer.com. The early registration fee is $11.50 for walkers and $17.25 for runners. After September 18, the late registration fee will be $16.50 and $22.25 respectively. Late registration will be processed by event volunteers from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Friday, September 19 and event day, September 20, from 7:15 a.m. - 8:45a.m. at the Ravenswood Senior Center (behind McDonald’s and beside the Ravenswood Plaza).
Run and walk participants who have pre-registered (and have not received their shirts from their team’s leader) can pick up their t-shirts during these same times.
Runners must be registered no later than 8:45 a.m. on the morning of the race (September 20) to eligible for race timing and placement.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the first and second place runners by age categories. Walkers will be eligible for a variety of fun door prizes.

Charity Challenge is a special 5K Run & Fun Walk Benefit and Matching Program that raises funds and community awareness for 20 important community projects produced by the non-profit organizations serving our community. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m in Ravenswood.  The 5K Run & Fun Walk will start at the Ravenswood Senior Center. The 5K Run will conclude at the Ravenswood Fire Station and the 1.8 mile Fun Walk will finish back at the Ravenswood Senior Center.
The theme for the event is appropriately titled “Together we are Building a Stronger Community!”    
The following streets will be closed for the event on September 20, from 8:50 a.m. – 10 a.m.: the north end of Washington Street from McDonald’s to Division Street; Ritchie Avenue from the corner of Washington Street and Richie Avenue to the corner of Henry Street and Ritchie Avenue; and Sycamore Street from the corner of Sycamore and Henry Streets to the corner of Sycamore and Virginia Street; and two blocks of Virginia Street from the corner of Sycamore Street and Virginia Street to the Fire Station. Alternate routes are available around the event.         
Runners and walkers can select a specific participating organization to benefit from their sponsorship donations or they can devote their sponsorship donations to the overall matching fund. Twenty local non-profit organizations have been selected to participate in the charity event.
