  • RAVENSWOOD - Coach Mick Price says his 2014 Red Devils did a very good job in their first preseason football scrimmage at Lincoln Saturday morning.
“They did a really good job overall,” said Price. “Offensively, we were quick and all of our starting backs and receivers scored. We played a lot of kids, and got a lot of looks. We will be looking at film and dissecting everything as coaches.
“Defensively, we also did well. They (Lincoln) lost a lot of linemen and that hurt their quarterback who is pretty good. We were able to take advantage of their lack of line experience and jump on them pretty good. But we need to improve and take another step when we go to Hoover (Saturday). We’ll know much more about what we have when we scrimmage them. Then, we’ll make decisions on starters and adjustments headed into our final week of preparation for the opener versus Wahama.”
Elsewhere, according to the Lady Red Devil soccer coaches, the team’s  scrimmage (Soccerama at Brooke High School Saturday) went well despite a tough draw.  The Lady Devils were very competitive againt AAA Preston and AA Philip Barbour, and not so much versus AAA Brooke, a Top 5 team n 2013.
“It was a good learning experience for our girls to play that caliber of team prior to regular season play,” said assistant coach J.D. Scritchfield.
